The new opening partnership of Tom Rutherfoord (45) and Harry Craker (44) getting the innings off to a respectable start with an opening stand well into the 80's, including two consecutive sixes from Tom! Dan Coomber his a sumptuous on drive for four before departing for 8, quickly followed by Andy Parle who hit a boundary and went for 5. The skipper then contributed a quickfire 26 before Charlie Goss 31* and Matt Willard 44* finished off the innings with some aggressive batting to take the final total to 249 for 6.
Selmeston's reply got off to a good start with the openers Matthew Jackson (58) and Alastair Deighton (81) taking the score above 100 before the breakthrough came. Harvey Parker, Charlie Goss and James Pitchford all bowled well and were unfortunate to take any wickets in their first spells. And it was Matt Willard who started making inroads taking two wickets in quick succession. Selmeston's skipper Toby Merriot (45) was looking dangerous and as though he would take the game away from the Saint's but Harvey Parker returned to dismiss him and Deighton in a very tidy spell of bowling with Charlie Goss which gave the Saints a grip back on the game which ended up in a draw. Harvey ending up with figures of 3 for 49 off 12 overs.
